Born from a surf trip to Bali in 2004, Indosole began with a simple problem and an innovative solution. After breaking his flip flops while walking through the streets of Seminyak, founder Kyle Parsons discovered a handcrafted pair of sandals made from recycled tire soles. That moment sparked an idea that would eventually grow into a global sustainability movement.
Inspired by Bali’s creativity, natural beauty, and laid-back lifestyle, Indosole set out to create comfortable, durable footwear while helping tackle one of the world’s biggest pollution problems - waste tires.
Every year, billions of tires end up in landfills or scattered across the environment, where they can take centuries to decompose. Discarded tires also create breeding grounds for mosquitoes that spread diseases such as malaria, dengue, and Zika, while the burning of waste tires releases toxic chemicals harmful to both people and the planet.
Indosole’s solution was simple but effective: transform discarded tires into durable sandal soles designed for everyday adventure.
After years of development, testing, and transporting suitcases full of sandals through airports around the world, Indosole officially launched in 2009. Today, the brand is known for its playful “Balifornia” spirit - blending Bali’s rich culture with California’s relaxed outdoor lifestyle and environmental consciousness.
